Every student will be issued a chromebook this year!

This year we are starting the 1:1 Chromebook program. Students will begin the year with a Chromebook checked out to them. The use of 1:1 devices at Mark Morris will create great opportunities for all students to utilize digital resources that will be integrated into each classroom.

Technology prepares students in our rapidly evolving world for the challenges beyond high school. Each student and a parent or guardian must sign the contract included in this mailing and present it at the time of device pick up.  Additionally, there is a mandatory $5.00 fee for a protective sleeve that will help to keep your device safe.  Please be sure to read all the paperwork and contracts carefully.

Students are expected to:

Charge their 1:1 device nightly and bring it to school each day

Use their 1:1 device during class time only when directed to do so by the teacher.

Only use it for school related purposes.

Abide by the Responsible Use Agreement (Board Procedure 2022).

Insure important files are saved to the appropriate Google Drive.

Make the 1:1 device available for inspection by any administrator, teacher, or staff member upon request.

Upper classmen may check out their Chromebooks on August 21st or 22nd between 8:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.  Freshmen check out times are between 1:00 and 3:30 on the same dates (right after Camp Monarch).

Welcome Back, Monarchs!

The new school year is around the corner and we here at Mark Morris are excited to welcome you to the 2018-2019 school year. I would like to formally introduce myself as your new Principal. My name is Brooks Cooper and I have been an Assistant Principal here at Mark Morris for the last three years. I am excited to continue to work with our excellent staff to provide a positive and challenging school experience for your student.

Our building focus will be on Literacy (reading, writing, listening, and speaking) and a focus on ALL students. Our ever-changing world requires us in education to continually meet the needs of our students. By focusing on Literacy and ALL students, we hope to provide a positive and challenging school experience for ALL of our students. Our theme for the year is “Why Not Now?” Why Not Now challenge yourself to new goals, Why Not Now tackle new study habits, Why Not Now join a new club, Why Not Now try a new sport…

You will notice a few changes as you return from summer break and launch into the new school year:

  • Students will be issued a Chromebook as we are now a 1:1 school.
  • All classrooms have received a technology update.
  • Our main hallway and guidance office have been freshly painted.
  • We have a brand new track.

You will also see some new faces as you return.  This fall we welcome four new staff members to Mark Morris.  Please join me in welcoming:

  • Brian Mitchell (Assistant Principal) former MM choir teacher of 21 years.
  • Anna Langenbach (Counselor) is coming from Mt. Solo Middle School.
  • Sondra Sampson (Special Education)
  • Myla Streander (School Psychologist)

It’s going to be a great year here at Mark Morris and we look forward to seeing you!

Wear Your Smile

School pictures will be taken on the first day of school, August 29th . Running Start students who take Social Studies at the college must go to the L.G.I.C. sometime between 8:00 and 2:00 to have your photo taken.  Even students who do not plan to purchase a photo package should have their pictures taken for their ASB or Student I.D. card and the yearbook.

Bell Studios will be taking our photographs again this year.  A picture packet listing package options and prices is included in this mailing.  Students who do not order  pictures will receive a proof sheet when pictures are returned, and you may then order pictures online from Bell Studios. Picture re-takes for those students who are not at school on the first day, or who need a new picture taken for some reason, have been scheduled for Monday, October 8th.
